When Games Feel Like Sex

by Tass on Dec.11, 2009, under armor games, Candystand, Personal, Random Stuff, Walkthrough

I was just chatting with some of the fine folks in Kong chatroom Impossible is Nothing (IiN from now on) about how I didn’t know what to write about. Everyone was working on optimizing Wake Up The Box, which just got badges… so we moved on to discuss optimizing other games. Nudge was just released on Armor, so I challenged anyone to beat it in 24 hours without using my walkthrough… since even with the help of Rubix and 3 other people, it took us over 2 days to beat it.

I pulled Rubix in to back me up on how challenging a 24-hour 1st time completion of Nudge would be, and we started to reminisce about how amazing it was when we finally beat the final level (which took over a day, working together on strategy). To beat it, we had webcams set up so we could see each other’s strategies and discuss them in real time. When we did finally beat it, it was on Rubix’s machine, with me lending a 2nd pair of eyes through the lens. I’m pretty sure it was my best gaming moment to date. Not because it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done (I doubt it was)… but because of the massive undertaking it was, how god damn long the level wound up being, and because it was completely a team effort. It was pretty euphoric. (Here’s the level solved, if you want to see how crazy it is.)

From there, we moved on to discussing our favorite optimization games and creativity amongst game design within the Armor in-house dev team. Bix and I desperately want a 3rd TBA game and Zerris won’t ever shut up about how his Seppukuties levels are a gift from god (and to be fair, they’re really awesome).

So please share with me any gaming experience you’ve had that was as good as sex (and if you’re a virgin, just imagine what sex would be like). Also feel free to stop by IiN and say hello if you’re into high-end flash game strategy discussions and optimization.

Is it alright if it’s not a flash game? I have an awesome CS story i’ll never forget.

I was also wondering if you prefer Armor over Kong? What’s your stance on that, pro/cons?

My first gaming experience that was as good as sex? I’ve got 2 recents. And 2 old that I still remember.

2 recents was, in the game Heroes of Newerth, normally games last around 20-40min. This one was 1h40, and I finished the games with 2 Illusions and I, getting the last hit on the last base. Epic.

The other recent is my first nuke in Modern Warfare 2, oh lord the cries on the mics and etc is sex tears.

Old ones are when I was round 8-9, using the SNES, my first ULTRA with Combo, also when I finished for the first time Super Mario RPG (I didn’t speak English when I was 9 so, imagine the shit it took to actually get everything finished)

I used to do something similar. I would call up my friends, and we would talk on the phone for HOURS and HOURS while we both play the same game at the same time. We did this for alot of old games like, Spyro, and Mario World.

One of my greatest video game moments was when we both defeated Smithy from “Super Mario Legend of the Seven Stars”. Such an amazing game, and is still before it’s time.

Of coarse, even just seeing how well the generations in video game industrys are progressing, although not as good as sex, it does make me feel glad to have played all the games I have.

Recently got all the achievements in Batman Arkham Asylum. Upon completion of it, I really had to sit back and think, “wow, this was amazing”.

My most recent was playing Counter-Strike(warcraft 3 mod). It was a match that’s held about every 2 weeks and earns a character of your choice 40k xp. So it’s pretty intense, that’s if you can even get in the server at the right time.

Well instead of writing a book on it, i’ll shorten it a lot. The game is tied, with the winner of this round winning all the xp. It’s me and one guy vs 5 terrorist. We’re on Dust2. Bomb is planted and we’re at the wrong bombsite. We rush to the other site and have about 15 seconds left. He’s the first in and takes out a couple before i’m even in the room. I come in and take out a guy coming from the tunnel as he’s started to defuse the bomb(if he hadn’t, it surely would’ve blown). I keep looking around for a few seconds to see if i’ve missed the last guy but he’s nowhere to be found. I turn around to see if he’s gone on with the diffusing. It happens that the last guy was human and cloaked, standing right above the guy, milliseconds from a kill. If my first bullet hadn’t shot him in the face, we would’ve lost.

Now that I think about it, I would’ve hated to write the full story hahah. Anyway, that’s the most recent story that’s had me jump out of my chair and yell.
