For the past 2-3 months, John and I have been going back and forth about whether or not to make a TITOL3. 3 weeks ago, the project was greenlighted and we dove right in. It was a very different experience than TITOL2 for 2 big, related reasons: I had 0 lead time to start coming up with stage ideas and John and I didn’t meet up to spend a day doing nothing but setting the 30 stages, their names, their orders, how they’d work, etc. On TITOL2, I had spent about 6 weeks coming up with ideas and then John and I spent day 1 of development solidifying the core of the game. For TITOL3, it was mostly off the cuff… yes, I had 5 or so ideas that had been floating around in my mind, but most of it was done on the spot, with John giving a, “Hey. We’re working on this. We have 2 weeks. GO!”
Anyway, 3 weeks later, the game is now live on Armor. SO PLAY IT!
This version of the game has ditched the button and gone with a switch. Elephant now poops pastries (ala AU2). And there are 4 teleporting doors located throughout the level. Not to mention a return of the velociraptor, FML mode, and Hyper mode… plus a new Invisible mode.

This is the 4th post on this topic, every 6 months dating back to July 2010. It takes a look at my top 100 videos broken down by the sponsor and developer, including views on YouTube and 5min. Video #100 is up to 295k views and the top 100 now totals over 84 million views. There are 11 new videos in the top 100 this time around.
Armor remains #1, although Spil is gaining fast. Armor still has 1/3rd of the videos, but only increased by about 5 million total views. Spil went from 14 to 18 vids on the list and skyrocketed 13 million views. And we have 1 new sponsor on the list: ArcadeBomb.
Some big changes on the dev side however, almost all by PITon. He’s soared over 9 million views in the past 6 months to take a massive lead as the top dev. Joey lost 2 videos from the top100 and was passed by John. Nice gains also by Robin Vencel and gmentat.
Here’s another list that I haven’t updated in 6 months… the top sponsors and developers ONLY including my top100 most viewed videos. Data is cumulative between YouTube and 5min (since I’ve done 9+ million views in the past 8 months on 5min, most of which are Armor’s).
The top sponsor list remains the same at the top, with Armor maintaining their roughly 50% of the total views and 33% of the videos. The biggest gainer is Spil Games, who have jumped to 14 games on the list and over 8.5 million views; I suspect a year from now Spil will overtake Armor.
On the dev side, Joey and John remain 1 and 2, but Eugene, Belugerin, gmentat, and PITon are trying to close the gap. I’ve cropped the list to only include devs with 1 million or more total views out of their top100 vids.
And my 100th video is now sitting at 245,000 views. I forget to count the new entries to the list, but I think it was around 13.
Jared Riley, the main man behind Hero Interactive, was kind enough to give me a sneak preview of a 99% completed Bubble Tanks 3. The game features all of the exploration and tank destroying goodness of the 2 previous games while incorporating in the sexy editors from Arenas to allow for insane customization.
As Jared keeps telling me, and I agree, the best feature of BT3 is that every time you load the game up… you’ll be getting a new experience. BT3 won’t be a distribute-and-done game, oh no. The HI team will continue to create new content via Parts Packs that will add new bubbles, weapons, parts, enemies, etc. However, because this level of post-production development is time consuming, these parts packs will not be free. Expect about 1 a month, loaded with new content, for only $4.99 each.

I last updated this list 5 months ago (and 1st did it 5 months before that). Once again, there is plenty of changes to the list; 21 new games, to be exact. The 100th video viewcount has increased from 93k to 155k. Total top100 views are up to 45 mil. Armor is still well in first, BubbleBox is still 2nd (although will probably lose ground, now that they aren’t owned by Martijn anymore)… the big newcomers are Spil Games and Slix Media, with NotDoppler also having a nice increase. Things are now neck and neck between Joey and John for top dev. And the top100′s % of total views is now down to 71.4%.
Views are in thousands. Count is the number of videos that sponsor/dev has on the top100 list.
-Higher eCPM (60-100% higher, roughly)
-Fast approval time (not instantly… but if I ask, it gets moved up in the queue and approved within an hour; no idea how long the non-move-up takes)
-Great customer support (I get emails back quickly, answer my silly questions, etc etc)
-Ads only monetized in the US (roughly 1/3 of my views) [this 1/3 is still earning me 60-100% more than YT though]
-Lot of sites I work with don’t like the pre-roll and won’t let me switch, and there’s no way to just display overlay ads.
-The entire 5min back-end is pretty crappy
—The uploader is a 1-at-a-time thing, that auto-fills part of the title and description (have to delete it each time), and has restrictions on # of tags and length of title.
—The analytics are basically non-existant
—The revenue reports are broken down into 2 different sections and they both keep defaulting to dates in October.
—No easy way (that I know of) to search through uploaded content… videos are just plopped all on 1 page (500+ of them)
Overall though, the money is enough to overlook the other stuff… if sponsors would allow me to switch the embeds. Which they aren’t doing. So far, only Armor has let me… the other large sponsors I work with all have said no. Which means about 35-50% of my views will start coming from 5min and the rest still on YT; I’ve done roughly 400,000 views on 5min since the start of the month vs 1.5 million on YT. However, I only have about 15 videos (covering about 8 or 9 games) switched to 5min.
It also seems that PlayedOnline is building a new section on their site specifically for my 5min vids (they’re the ones that asked 5min to reach out to me in the first place). So that’s pretty cool too. Will definitely have a post about it when it’s live.
So today I have hit 50 million total video views. This is as per tubemogel.com, not what it says on YouTube, as YT’s view stats are lagged by 3-4 days. This is very cool stuff, especially given the time it took to go from 10 to 25 mil vs 25 to 50 mil (178 vs 209 days OR 11.86 vs 8.36 days/mil). This is almost a 42% increase in views/day, with an average of almost 120,000 per day over the past 209 days.
More stat milestones… This is the only level too broke 2 million, just edging Use Boxmen as my 2nd game to 2 mil; this also makes the 2 TITOL games #1 and #2 on my most viewed list all time. But to keep John’s ego in check, he still has less total views than his AG co-worker Joey (5.36 mil vs 5.39 mil)… barely.
Random other stuff: going to try and start posting daily again, if I can. This means not everything will be work related. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
So crazy to think… amazing really. For a walkthrough to have so many views. This is the only level’s walkthrough hit 3 million views today. Yay!
Use Boxmen will hit 2 million very shortly as well.
Don’t think I’ll have any new 7 digit milestone posts for a while. Oh well.
The original list is from February. A lot has changed since then. There are 17 new videos in the Top 100. The 100th video viewcount increased from 58k to 93k. Total views from the Top 100 has increased from 22 mil to 33 mil. But other things remain the same… Armor is well in first, with BubbleBox still solidly second. Joey Betz is still my top dev, but John Cooney and Eugene Karataev are gaining. And the % of views from the Top 100 has decreased from 81% to 76%.
I typed “Walkthrough” into my YouTube search bar and waded through the 1st 17 pages of results, which takes us down to 200,000 views per video. ”Walkthrough” returned the results of any video with the word Walkthrough in either the title or description of the video. This should be a pretty all-inclusive list, barring any games besides Ice Breaker that have a crapton of videos for 1 game (I just happened to know about the walks for those games, so I knew to check… no one of the vids has 200k+ views).

These are video groups done by 1 person; no mix and matching. Also, no 1 game/island had more than 1 person with 1 mil views on their walkthrough… although 1 or 2 of the Poptropica Islands were close with a 2nd.
Analyzing the list shows very specific types of games that meet this list: Poptropica, Phuzzles, and Puzzle Platformers account for 19/21. CtC:PP is a physics game, but not a phuzzle… and Stadium Sneakout is a point & click that doesn’t really belong on the list at all because each video is :08-:30 long. The top17 are 6 Poptropicas, 8 Phuzzles, and 3 Puzzle Platformers. Finally, I made 8 of the top 18 (8 of 12 if you discount Poptropica).
